Hi, I'm Elvin Carmona
Full-stack developer passionate about the intergration of AI into everyday life.
About Me
Who I Am
I'm a Software Engineer Fellow at Headstarter AI, where I build and deploy real-world AI projects while continually sharpening my skills. I took a nontraditional path into tech—transitioning from a career as a Registered Nurse. My background in healthcare taught me to solve complex problems under pressure and make critical decisions with limited information—skills I now apply in software engineering.
Before that, I served in the U.S. Navy, maintaining aviation support systems in high-stakes environments. That experience instilled in me the discipline, technical resilience, and teamwork that still drive me today.
At the core of my work is a desire to build technology that improves people's lives. I'm especially interested in the ethical use of AI—tools that empower, not replace, humans. I hold a Computer Science degree from Oregon State University and have served as a Teaching Assistant with Microsoft TEALS, reflecting my passion for both technology and community impact.
From medicine to engineering, my greatest strength has always been adaptability—and using it to keep learning, building, and contributing meaningfully.
If you're building technology that empowers people—especially at the intersection of AI and real-world impact—I'd love to be a part of it. I'm currently open to roles in AI engineering, software development, or mission-driven tech teams.
